Hey guys, figured this would be the best spot to field this question-
On the site steamlocomotive.com there is an article that cites that a T-1 outperformed a 5400hp diesel consist (I'm assuming an A-B-B-A EMD FT set) at all speeds over 26mph (which if I recall correctly is the speed when some engineers said they could lay a bit harder on the throttle) http://www.steamlocomotive.com/streamlined/scrapped/ about halfway down for the citation.
To the best of your knowledge:
1. Is it true
2. Would this have been a shop test of sorts? Or an actual on the tracks real-time test of sorts?
My thanks in advace for your time!
