I am in the midst of trying to end my PRR combine modelling. I have a modernized set of sides to do up (NKP), a Spectrum car and an ECW car. The plan afoot
is to have one "hot" car, one air conditioned car and the modernized car. Problem is... I have only a few photos and all are shot with the bagg end
to the left. Thus I can make no judgements as to what is hanging under the car. With the side to the left, you can see a generator, a U shaped water tank (in
profile), a three bunker ice chest, the steam vent and then the triple valve. Thats on the air conditioned car, moving from the bagg end to the vestibule. If
there are useable photos on line I cannot find them. SO... can someone "walk me to the back of the car" with the bagg section inverted on the ac car
(and identify the underbody components?). Start at the vetsibule, and moving forward. I am assuming the ice chest spans the width of the car, although I
don't know that for sure. These are the P70 style cars, PB series.
I realize the cars are not truly scale, but I have no desire to do up three combines from sides. I just wanna make them as close as I can. I did resposition the trucks as far as practical and have them still couple and have the front lower ladder rungs in place.
Any help is appreciated. I think I asked before if any combines still exist in 1:1, but no one seems to know of any. As noted, these will not be exact scale models, but I always resist modelling from a model, if thats possible. I do have a few books, but the pix are either not useable or suspect due to photo age. I model 1946-1954.
